Chairing disciplinary hearings

A chairperson can make or break a disciplinary hearing — one substantive or procedural misstep and the entire outcome is at risk. This workshop gives delegates a clear 12-step roadmap for running a hearing from start to finish, covering everything from preliminary matters and rules of evidence to managing obstacles and difficult participants. Delegates will learn how to assess guilt on the balance of probabilities, determine appropriate sanctions and draft findings and recommendations that stand up to scrutiny. Through practical case studies and real-world scenarios, delegates will build the confidence to chair hearings with authority and fairness.
